Hire good people

In traditional China, a teacher wasn’t judged by how good his Kung Fu was. He was judged by how good his students’ Kung Fu was.

Being a boss is pretty similar. How good your team is, matters far more than how good you are. Who you hire matters far more than just about anything else.

Which is why a CEO like WordPress’ founder Matt Mullenweg spends most of his time recruiting. Most other jobs can be delegated, built not this one.

As I’m fond of saying: It’s the people, Stupid.
