Spring is the time to try something new, don’t you think? That could include any one of our Spring art classes, starting the week of April 2. We could also point you to some classes in particular that might be new and different to you.

Let us put some classes on your radar:

At the intersection of human biology and art lies anatomy, where artists learn what’s beneath the surface of the people they draw, paint, and sculpt. John Murray teaches two sections of Figure Sculpture and one of Artist Anatomical Drawing this Spring, all on Tuesdays.

by instructor Charlene Fuhrman-Schulz

Painting in the Western tradition is fun, but are you curious to learn this East Asian approach to painting? Sumi-e: East Asian Brush Painting has two sections this Spring, both taught by Charlene Fuhrman-Schulz.

Night Photography

Bi-weekly shoots, technical lessons, and critiques are part of Peter Duvall’s Night Photography class. Challenge yourself to create some dramatic, low-light images!

Learn a non-traditional approach to rug-making and create a contemporary rug or wall-hanging in Michael Heilman’s class.

Bench by Art League instructor Donna Reinsel.

Furniture design

This class is suitable for absolute beginners, too. Steel Furniture Design and Construction with Donna Reinsel takes you through the process of designing and building your own chair, shelf, lamp, or something similar.

Urban Landscapes

Capture your favorite urban settings as you learn from cityscape expert Joey Mánlapaz. Students in Urban Landscapes paint in oil or acrylic; some drawing experience is helpful.

Developing the Narrative

If you’re looking for new ways to make your painting talk, why not learn some narrative techniques with Beverly Ryan? Build your own stories in Developing the Narrative.

There’s lots more to explore! Browse the full catalog online here. Spring classes begin the week of April 2, 2018.
