The North Western Highlands area is perhaps one of the most desolate but exciting places in Europe. With the rugged coastline to explore, the wild Mountains to climb and heather covered moors to walk this place offers adventure in abundance to the visitor.
There is wild life in abundance to see.
There are rivers and lochs teaming with fish just waiting for the angler, all seeming to be everywhere one turns.

All along the coast are dotted beautiful little towns and villages worthy of a visit or stay. The views one gets all through this region with all it's extremes can be awesome and likely to enact their portion on the visitor in a few incredible moments.

If you come from a busy and heavily populated area you are in for a culture shock, for, to travel miles without seeing another soul can happen here in this awesome part of Scotland.

As for the sporty types there's an abundance of hills to be tamed, fish to be caught and boating to be had.
For the more refined there's lots of sightseeing with plenty of museums, ancient monuments and other landmarks to visit.

The main towns or villages are Gairloch, Ullapool, Lochinver, Torridon, Garve, Scourie and Durness.

This region was once part of the domain of the Moray faction or clan, but was disputed over by the Jarl of Orkney and Caithness, one Thorfinn, cousin to Macbeth, the Mormaer of Moray. The Norse connection in this land was very strong and not a small number of the current population have Norse blood somewhere in their veins.

If the spirit of adventure still flows through your bloodstream then a vacation or even a short stay is a must for you and the kids, in a never to be forgotten part of The Land of Macbeth.

There are many Hotels, Guesthouses, Caravan and Camping sites to choose from.
