Tomintoul

Village

Tomintoul the highest village in the Scottish Highlands has probably the most used 'Town' name during the winter months in Britain, for who hasn't heard the weather announcer mention the road that's always closed due to snow, Cock Bridge to Tomintoul, even when the rest of us have no weather problems at all.

The village itself is a very scenic place due to its location on the edge of the Cairngorm Mountains and certainly one that attracts many visitors.
Close by is the Lecht ski area which just heaves with holidaymakers for the excellent fun and enjoyment a ski resort seems to breed.
There's a distillery nearby with public visits always a pleasure to most for some Scottish reason.
The village has a small museum, which is very interesting and informative about life in the region in past times.
Hillwalkers will love this area with it's testing walks and varied wildlife.
