Tarbert is the main town of Harris and also the ferry port for the journey to Uig on Skye. It is lodged in a valley where north and south Harris meet. The buildings, as in so many seaport towns, stretch down to the harbour in terraced fashion. With it's shops and services the town is of course the attraction for the surrounding district. The area is great for the many walks which abound and of course with all that water the fishing is excellent. Golf if you really must have it is available in the near vicinity. A great game of tennis can be had locally as well. Castles and ancient sites are aplenty for the interested tourist in and around the region. |

Other places to visit are Loch Seaforth, Clisham, Reinigeadal, Amhuinnsuidhe Castle, Huisinis Bay, Scaladale Centre, Scalpay, Manais, Roghadal, Leverburgh, Northton, Scarista and Nisabost. All have something to offer for the enjoyment of the holidaymaker and really shouldn't be missed especially the wonderful unspoilt beaches which most have. |
