Stonehaven is a very attractive and busy holiday town on the East Coast, to the south of Aberdeen.

Formerly a busy fishing port it nowadays has tourism as its mainstay.

The town has quite a history, not only from Pictish times, but down through the ages, including the Jacobite uprising. It has a good sheltered harbour utilised by the sailing fraternity and a fine pebbled beach, which is well used by visitors.

For the visitor there's the museum to browse for some history on the fishing Industry of the past and the great Castle of Dunnotar to look over. One of the largest seabird colonies on mainland U.K. can be seen at the Fowlsheugh Seabird Centre.
Good fishing either sea or river can be had and excellent golf facilities are near at hand.
The countryside beckons the rambling types with some great walks.
