Sconser is a tiny village on the east coast of the island about halfway between Broadford and Portree. It is the ferry point for the island of Raasay thus making it a very busy little place especially in the tourist season although not overbearing. The area is picturesque and for the size of the village there is a lot to do such as the first class golf course to keep those folk who like to bully the wee white ball around, busy for a while. There are plenty of good walks for those who like to explore natures' wonders and even some cycling for those who prefer wheels without having to buy some petrol.
There is also some
trekking to be had and if you have never tried life on the back of a
horse an hour or two should introduce you to its delights. To the west one can reach Sligachan which is a good starting point for walks into the Cuillins and with all that scenery around take plenty of film. |
