Sconser is a tiny village on the east coast of the island about halfway between Broadford and Portree. It is the ferry point for the island of Raasay thus making it a very busy little place especially in the tourist season although not overbearing.

The area is picturesque and for the size of the village there is a lot to do such as the first class golf course to keep those folk who like to bully the wee white ball around, busy for a while. There are plenty of good walks for those who like to explore natures' wonders and even some cycling for those who prefer wheels without having to buy some petrol.

There is also some trekking to be had and if you have never tried life on the back of a horse an hour or two should introduce you to its delights.
Of course with all that water nearby, a great days' fishing can be had from shore or boat.
The views of the distant mountains should encourage any artists out there to try the brush and paints in this wonderful place.

To the west one can reach Sligachan which is a good starting point for walks into the Cuillins and with all that scenery around take plenty of film.

This is a smashing area to be based, for sojourns about the island, without being too overcrowded.

For eats the local establishments provide good fayre.
Hotels, guesthouses, caravan and camping sites are available.

Travel is by bus or car.
For the tourists from abroad the nearest airports are Inverness and Glasgow and on by rail to Mallaig then ferry to Skye or by bus or coach direct from the above.
