Rothes by the River Spey is an important whisky making centre.
Originally a farming community, the town has evolved through the ' Golden Liquor ' and angling sport both which, when added to the agriculture make up the economy of the region.

The town is situated in a very attractive area which has excellent potential for the holidaymaker to either participate in the superb angling on the world famous River Spey with it's wonderful fish, or to explore the Visitor Centres at the world beating Whisky Distilleries, where an excellent display is usually put on.

For ramblers there are super lanes to walk and plenty of landscapes to see and enjoy along with the good clean country air.

The remains of a castle once the stronghold of the Leslie Clan is there to be browsed over by the history minded among you.

Rothes also boasts a golf course of a good standard, so if you like a fair old challenge, you'll enjoy this course.
