Portree is the chief town on Skye and lies roughly halfway up the east coast, on the north side of a sheltered inlet. In the summer months the town hustles and bustles with holidaymakers of all types enjoying that special hospitality the Island emits.

The town has lots of good shops and a centre with various tourist attractions such as Theatre, Cinema, Audio-visual Exhibitions among others. There's an Arts Centre for the inquisitive and a Crafts Centre where Weapons of War from the ancient times are made. This is one for the history buffs. A swimming pool is also on hand to cool the blood on a warm summer's day. For the walkers, you don't have to go far for the start of an excellent journey for there are some beauties beginning at Portree.

The scenery all around is quite awesome and one can understand why Prince Charlie was brought here for there are potentially thousands of places to hide on the island.
