Newtonmore is the home of the Highland Folk Museum and the Clan MacPherson Museum.

It's also famous for that crazy game where two teams of men knock lumps 'onto' one another while trying to hit a rockhard ball or is it just a rock. I think they call it Shinty but perhaps lumpy would be better.

The town itself is a busy place during the summer months and boasts a good golf course.

Pony trekking for the cowboy types is available with some good jonts through the countryside. This is an exciting way to see the country albeit from a different angle.

There is also a walking centre with exhilarating expeditions through the woodlands of the area, which is good fun for children and adults alike. If you don't usually enjoy a good night's sleep try this and you certainly will.

This is also wildcat country so be prepared, with your camera that is, to shoot some film.

Just outside the town lies the Ralia Highland Gateway Centre with it's popular woodland walks again exciting for the kids.

With all the rivers and lochs around the vicinity there's plenty good fishing to be had for the anglers among you.
