Newburgh
was and still is one of my favourite holiday places, for when I was
a young salesman, and in the area, I was introduced to seatrout fishing
one lunchtime, on the banks of the River Ythan.
I'll never forget watching, literally, dozens of these monsters jumping
before my eyes in what is a very narrow channelled rivermouth. As I
stood on the loveliest of sands, for that is what the banks are, watching
some anglers in action, I very quickly got into conversation with one
of them regarding these creatures flying before my eyes. I was very
soon in deep consultation with enthusiastic questions being fired at
these rather bewildered men. Bewildered because I had never heard of,
never mind visited the ' best seatrout river ' in Britain.

All I can say is
that I booked a holiday for the family and spent a great time with the
kids playing on the wonderful beach whilst daddy oozed the hours away
casting into that rivermouth. Even mum enjoyed herself just lying out
on the sand knowing the kids were safe and dad happily occupied.
Did I catch any? I'm not saying, but if you fancy yourself as a fishing
man then get up there fast for you won't be disappointed.
