Nairn is a pure gem of a holiday town seated on the Moray Firth coast with a wonderful harbour and beach. It lies about fifteen miles east of Inverness on the coastal route wherein lies some pretty impressive history.
This was the area during the eleventh century in which so much was won and lost of Scotland's Celtic culture.
This is the real country of Macbeth, for at this time, from the east coast to the west coast, all was part of the Moray Mormaership. In reality this is the land where killings were done, where conspiracies were hatched, where swords were drawn and death a constant visitor.
Malcolm II, Duncan, Macbeth, Torfinn and Malcolm Canmore with their followers all played their parts in the history of this domain from Dingwall in the west, to Fochabers in the east and on.
Shakespeare in his day, found enough history from these parts to make a bestseller and I'm sure that you will find a lot more.

Nairn, the town is made up of two parts, the old town and the new town, the older being the fishing community area, and the new, the shops and houses to the south and west.
The old part is typically fishing with it's housing and harbour areas, an artist's paradise, and of course the new town, a more modern system of properties and buildings, no less attractive and in some cases very impressive.

The beach, a good stretch of fine sand for playing and lazing on, is also great for the play things such as paddling pools and crazy golf among others.
The shopping area is good with plenty of variety for the people who can't stop themselves spending.
There are two museums which are well worth a visit for some interesting facts on the area.
There's a marina at the harbour where some good fishing can be done, and, if you're only viewing, it's possible to see the dolphins, porpoises and seals at play out in the Firth waters.

Nairn can also boast of a terrific golf course of championship standard, so, if you think you can hit the wee white ba' and like a good challenge, then put your money where your mouth is and get on up here.
