Lossiemouth is a wonderful seaside holiday resort set on a clean sandy bay on the Moray coast. It is one of Moray's main fishing ports' with boats coming and going all the time and a visit to the harbour is quite enthralling.

Lossie, as we up here like to call it, is also home to the airmen and women of the R.A.F. Base who along with their compatriots from R.A.F. Kinloss protect the northern extremities of these islands. This along with the local farming community and the many tourists gives the area its prosperous economy.

At one time in the past this area of the coast was a certainty for Viking raids and not a few battles were fought in the surrounding lands. Indeed it's not so far from here, at Pitgaveny, that Shakespeares' King Duncan was actually killed in battle whilst on his way north to try to reverse another of his many defeats, this time at the hands of his viking cousin Torfinn, and not as the play makes out, in his bed.
This is Macbeth country and much about that Monarch's real life is to be found in the area, especially nearby Forres where his Castle and Palace stood.
