Kinloss, is a small village about three miles north from Forres on the coast road. It's main claim to fame is R.A.F. Kinloss, home in Scotland to the famous Nimrod squadrons. Although used for a variety of tasks, such as Air- Sea Rescue, the plane's main purpose is as a hunter killer of underwater enemies. The camp is open to the public on certain days each year and this generates many visitors. The base along with R.A.F. Lossiemouth brings a tremendous amount of prosperity to the region and the village benefits a great deal from the presence of these men and women and long may they remain.

Kinloss village and surrounds is basically an agricultural area and is good for the potential walks to be done. With Findhorn Bay and village about two miles along the road the scope for holidaymakers is excellent with the watersports, swimming, fishing, gliding and golf all available in or around the area.

This is a very historical region of Scotland with Celtic and Viking legends to the fore. Nearby Forres is the home of Macbeth, that famous Scottish King, who was made infamous by Wm. Shakespeare in his play Macbeth. Burghead, once the habitation of some Vikings, who kind of raised a rumpus in the area during their time, have left an indelible imprint on the region. Certain Viking festivals are still celebrated at the town each year, to the thrill of the participants and visitors alike. Burghead is a lovely walk, especially along the shore, from Kinloss or Findhorn.

The village boasts an ancient abbey although now a ruin and at nearby Duffus the ruin of the earliest known Norman style castle in Scotland and a battlesite can be seen. At Forres the Suenos' Stone, an ancient Celtic monolith and the mound where Macbeth's palace once stood can also be seen. The area has many castles, museums, a cathedral and two abbeys into the bargain.

This truly is a great area for holidays so don't delay, get booked now.
