Kinloss,
is a small village about three miles north from Forres
on the coast road.
It's main claim to fame is R.A.F. Kinloss, home in Scotland to
the famous Nimrod squadrons. Although used for a variety of tasks,
such as Air- Sea Rescue, the plane's main purpose is as a hunter
killer of underwater enemies. The camp is open to the public on certain
days each year and this generates many visitors. The base along with
R.A.F. Lossiemouth brings a tremendous
amount of prosperity to the region and the village benefits a great
deal from the presence of these men and women and long may they remain.
Kinloss village and surrounds is basically an agricultural area and is good for the potential walks to be done. With Findhorn Bay and village about two miles along the road the scope for holidaymakers is excellent with the watersports, swimming, fishing, gliding and golf all available in or around the area. |
