Kingussie the capital town of Badenoch, is a real busy place in the summer months with tourists flocking in from every direction for the summer festivities.

With it's castle overlooking the town you shouldn't be surprised to hear the sound of the pipes, as not infrequently, a band marches through the streets.
There's a good variety of shops to browse and the Highland Folk Museum is a must to visit.
The remains of Ruthven Barracks, a Government Post during the Jacobite uprising, but destroyed by the retreating rebel army after Culloden, can also be seen.

Kingussie was the seat of the Comyn faction who once disputed the throne of Scotland with a certain Bruce family. As we know Robert the Bruce killed the 'Red' Comyn at an arranged meeting of the two men which was supposed to sort out their differences. The rest is now history.
