Inverurie
is the seat of the District Authority and the main town to the north
of Aberdeen on the River Don. It's
quite a lovely place with its granite stonework buildings. The town
centre which bustles with holidaymakers and locals alike has a fair
variety of colourful shops.
Agriculture, which is the mainstay of the economy, is augmented
with business associated to the oil industry, thus adding to the prosperity
of the region.
This is a great place for the countryside lovers with smashing walks
to be had on nearby Bennachie Hill among others.

There is a centre
dedicated to the natural history of the area and many ancient archaeological
sites can also be visited in the near locality. A twelfth century Norman
style castle ruin lies to the south of the town and Bennachie Hill
to the west is reputed to be the site of Scotland's first recorded battle,
Mon Graupius, at which the Roman Legions defeated the Picts. (A.D.84.)
Further north are the Ancient Stone Circles of Loanhead and Maiden
each with a creepy story to tell the visitor.
In Scotland one is never far away from fishing or the famous Whisky
Trail and Inverurie is no exception.
For Eating there's
lots to be enjoyed in the Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes of Inverurie.
Hotels, Guesthouses, Caravan and Camping sites are available.
Travel is by rail,
bus, coach or car.
For the tourists from abroad the nearest airports are Aberdeen
with a connection to Inverurie by rail, bus or coach. Glasgow
and Edinburgh both connect to Aberdeen by air, rail, bus or coach and
on as above.
