Inverness, the Capital of the North, is one fast growing town of business and population and I don't exaggerate when I say this is a beautiful place to have a holiday.
The town itself is a wonderful shopping area with a great variety of retail outlets. Exploring the shops for a man is not usually the best way to spend the day, but in Inverness it seems to be different, for there are a lot of very interesting places to browse. In the square you'll usually find some street buskers who provide a good variety of excellent music to keep the fed up fathers and children amused if they just can't enjoy the shops.

At the time of Macbeth a Castle used by the Duncan Faction and later by the Macbeth Retinue did exist, but was destroyed, possibly on Macbeth's orders, owing to it's connection with Duncan's family and followers. The exact site is one of dispute among the local historians but one thing's for sure, Duncan was not murdered at this place, as some would have us believe. Shakespeare put Macbeth in the ownership of the castle at Inverness.

The town has much in the way of history and a visit to the Highland Museum and the Castle is a must.
