Huntly is
a town set deep in the countryside of Aberdeenshire
with a lot going for it.
Its history is a long and varied one from the earliest of times, for
many men have trod through the area on their way to some battle or other,
as this was the home base of the powerful Gordons who ruled the
region from the twelfth century Huntly Castle around which the
town is built.
There's also a medieval
church nearby at Auchindoir, which is not to be missed, and a
few miles away Leith Hall home to the Leith Lairds, which
is also of great interest.
The town has an
interesting museum and a ski centre, and, being good farming country
there are plenty excellent walks for the enthusiast.
Of course there's also the Whisky Trail with lots of Distilleries
to warm the hearts of the visitor with some fine displays and tours.
The area is great for exploration and good country livin'. For sport
golf and fishing aren't so far away.
