Fochabers

Village

Fochabers village is one of the sites of a line of castles erected for the defence of Moray from the Vikings who found this land most desirable for a bit of plunder down through the years.
The passage of time saw the destruction of that defensive structure but the village lives on. It's a bonny wee place with its eighteenth century styled buildings.
It boasts home to a famous manufacturer of Scottish foodstuffs whose produce is known the world over.
A 'Folk Museum' which depicts the old ways of the area is of great interest and well worth a visit.
The village is also part of the renowned 'Speyside Way' which is growing in popularity year on year.
The village also has some nice shops to browse.

Not far to the north lies Garmouth and Kingston with the Barnyard Studios another great attraction. The birdlife at the mouth of the river is another good reason for spending some time here for there are a few rarities to be seen..
To the west lies the village of Mosstodloch on the main Elgin road.
