Stretching from the Black Isle and Mid Ross through Easter Ross, East Sutherland, Caithness and the north coast of Sutherland this region is full of variety for the visitor.
The contrasts can be quite staggering, from rugged coastline to sandy beaches, wild mountains to bleak moors. There's large towns to tiny villages, each with a story to tell , just waiting to indulge the visitor with some renowned Highland hospitality.

We can offer anything from a luxurious golf experience, fishing of all varieties, wildlife, castles, falconry, cathedrals, museums and lots and lots of history.

The population is a mixture of Pict, Scot, Celt and Viking with an added sprinkling of lowland Scot and Anglo Saxon so the region is a wonderland for the history buff.

This is the area which Torfinn and Macbeth contested for so many years. Torfinn of the Viking blood was ruler of Caithness and Orkney and Macbeth, the Mormaer of Moray, and, eventual ruler of Scotland. Although Sutherland was under the domain of Macbeth, Torfinn always disputed his rights to the area, and so not quite a few tussles were enacted in this region.

The main towns are Wick and Thurso in the north with Dornoch and Dingwall in the south. Stretched out between them are a host of wonderful little places all well worthy of a visit and the site map and search facility will let you explore each one for a full history.

The region offers the visitor so many things to do and see. We have briefly mentioned some history but there is so much more for this is a terrific area of exploration and one not to be missed.
