Ellon to the north of Aberdeen sits on the River Ythan, the best "lil ol" seatrout river in Britain, at least so I've been told. I don't know any other seatrout rivers but I have seen the big beauties rise on the Ythan and it was teeming with fish the holiday I spent there.
Ellon itself is a lovely place with that laid-back sense of feeling about it. Just the place you dream about going to, to get away from the ratrace.
There's lots of countryside to see and walk if that's what you want to do, or, there's lots of lovely clean sand and fresh air not so far away if you should wish to visit the seaside.

Haddo Country Park is also close at hand for a great day out with the family or friends. All around the area you are never far away from something like imposing castles, interesting museums, thought provoking ancient sites and wonderful Visitor Centres.

Fishing either river or beach, good links golf and many other activities are to be had.

For Eats, Ellon has some good food establishments ranging from hotels, restaurants and cafes serving great local fayre at reasonable cost.
Hotel, Guesthouse, Caravan and Camping facilities are available.

Travel is by bus, coach or car.
For the tourists from abroad the nearest airports are Aberdeen with a connection to Ellon by bus or coach. Glasgow and Edinburgh both connect to Aberdeen by air, rail, bus or coach.
