Durness is a lovely place in what is perhaps the wildest part of Scotland, for the infamous Cape Wrath is not so far along the road. Taking all this into account, it's what makes Scotland such a great place.

The scenery is awesome with it's heather covered hills and mountains while the coastline varies from the rugged to the beautiful.

The beaches are basically untouched with beautiful sands and miles of great exploring to be tried if done, of course, with care.

The wildlife abounds in this environment and is quite spectacular in its numbers and variety.

The Smoo Cave is also a must to see for the adventurous among you.
There's a Craft Village and a Visitor Centre both well worth browsing for this area has much history to offer.

Cape Wrath and Sandwood Bay are natural features, which shouldn't be missed for photographing.

Travel is by bus, coach or car.
For the tourists from abroad the nearest airports are Wick with a connection to Durness by bus or coach, or Inverness with a connection to Thurso by rail and on by bus or coach to Durness. Glasgow and Edinburgh both connect to Wick and Inverness by air, rail, bus or coach and on as above.
