Dunvegan at the head or near head of Loch Dunvegan, surrounded by magnificent mountains and forests is the home to not a few attractions, which bring visitors from around the world to the area. The very foremost must be the Ancestral Home at Dunvegan Castle of the Clan MacLeod, which claims at least a seven hundred-year-old history. So, if anyone out there has the tiniest drop of MacLeod blood this is where you should be, this is your home base, this is your country. Make a date to come to the land of your ancestors if only for a vacation, for you won't be disappointed.

Another feature is the giant MacAskill Museum, based on the exploits of a real life character.
The boating and the fishing are good and the walks are excellent, with lots to explore.
There are centres at Colbost, Borreraig and a toy museum at Glendale which lie to the north west of Dunvegan.

Coming south past Struan and turning off at Drynoch there's a distillery to visit near Carbost. Heading south again we pass Sligachan and back to Sconser.
This is a wonderful part of Scotland and well worth a holiday, that is, if you want one to remember.
