Cullen is a wonderfully picturesque seaside town set in a bay between Portknockie and Sandend, both of which are quite outstanding in their own right.

The beach is one of firm sands with lots of scope for youngsters to play as, no matter how busy the sands are with holidaymakers, there always seems to be plenty of room.

Cullen itself is famous for it's viaduct, which you would pass under as you enter the town from the west. This was built for the railway which used to run along the coastal route in times past, for the train in those days, as in most other places, was an essential mode of transport.
The town has some nice interesting shops for browsing.

Fishing either river or sea can be had for a great day and if you like your golf and can't leave it alone then some good courses can be found in the town and near area..
At nearby Sunnyside Beach, just a fine walk along the coast, the Ruins of Findlater Castle are to be found.

Portknockie, a good walk from Cullen, lies off to the west on a high rock mound that forms the left arm as it were, of Cullen Bay. The village starts off on the heights then gradually slopes down to the harbour area, where in years past boats would be beached in long parallel rows. In those days the village was a very busy fishing community. Alas however, these days are gone, and, just as in other fishing villages, Portknockie has had to adapt to other forms of industry. The village is now using it's own attractiveness to bring in tourists who enjoy the delights of a relaxing and interesting holiday.
Fishing from the harbour or rocks is good.

For eats there are Hotels, Restaurants and Cafe facilities providing excellent fayre at reasonable prices.
Hotels, Guesthouses, Caravan and Camping facilities are available.

Travel is by bus, coach or car.
For tourists from abroad the nearest airports are Aberdeen with a connection to Cullen by bus or coach, Inverness with a connection to Elgin by rail and on by bus or coach or coach direct. Glasgow and Edinburgh connect by air to Aberdeen (Glasgow weekdays and Edinburgh weekends only) and Inverness and on as above, or rail, bus or coach via Inverness or Aberdeen and on as above.
