Brodie

Village

Brodie is a tiny village not far from Forres on the main Inverness road.
It boasts a wonderful Castle to which thousands of visitors flock, year in year out, to delight in it's magnificent interior. The grounds are not bad for a picnic either.

Another attraction of the village is the Brodie Country Fayre where a wide variety of goods can be had.

Surrounding Brodie are the villages of Dyke, Darnaway and Auldearn where a famous battle was fought between the Covenanters and the Royalists. Darnaway has a visitor centre and a terrific castle, which is also of great beauty. The Small World Children's Centre sits just off the Forres road and is another popular place.

Macbeth, Duncan, Torfinn, Malcolm and many others trod this route to and from battles in times past and some say men of the Roman Legions before that. A small Mound associated with Macbeth sits not far away and was highlighted in a recent documentary on the life of Macbeth by Tony Robinson.

Not that distant from the village lie some lovely unspoiled beaches where a relaxing time can be enjoyed.

For sportsmen there's the fishing, either from the nearby River Findhorn or beautiful Findhorn Bay itself. Water sports in the bay are also a great attraction. Riding and gliding are also available locally. For golfers there's the choice of either Forres to the east of the village or Nairn to the west for a challenging game.

For Eats there are Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes providing good food at reasonable prices.
Hotels, Guesthouses, Caravan and Camping facilities are available.

Travel is by rail, bus, coach or car.
For visitors from abroad the nearest airports are Inverness with a rail connection to Forres and back to Brodie by bus or coach, Glasgow and Edinburgh both connect to Inverness by air, rail or coach and on to Brodie as above.
