Banchory

Town

Banchory, is a smashing holiday town on the River Dee. In the summer many holidaymakers and tourists enjoy browsing through the shopping centre which has a good variety of retail outlets. The town has a museum of great interest and is surrounded by sites of historical importance all well worth a visit.
Not far up the road is the village of Lumphanan where Macbeth met his grizzly end after a battle with the forces of Malcolm Canmore aided by the men of Northumbria.

Almost next door are the waterfalls at the Bridge of Feugh where the salmon can be seen leaping upstream against the currents. It is one of nature's great mysteries why the salmon must return to the place of their birth to spawn. To see these great fish fight the waters almost to exhaustion just to get back to that particular place is really quite exciting.
Not far from Banchory one can visit Crathes Castle, Drum Castle, Garlogie Millhouse Museum and at Cullerlie the Stone Ring and the Farm Park.
Needless to say golf, fishing and many other activities can be enjoyed in the area.
