Fort Augustus, is a beautiful highland village on the Fort William road at the tail of Loch Ness to the south of Inverness.
At the Fort there is the famous lock system which raises or lowers the waters for the craft which use the canal to and from Loch Oich, the next connecting loch on the journey. This is a great sight and it attracts many tourists who amaze themselves at this engineering wonder.

The Fort was built to keep the wild clansmen in check, by General Wade in 1720, and was named after the King's son William Augustus. Now the impressive Abbey stands on the site.

The village boasts a museum and three Visitor Centres which are a must to see.
There's also many fine walks and lots of fresh air to be had in the Highland Park

Boat trips on the loch start from Fort Augustus and are an exciting experience with the chance of seeing ' Nessie '.
With all that water around the chances of a good day's fishing are excellent and needless to say a good round of golf can be had at the course.

This is a first class holiday spot with much to see and do.
